Motorcyclist dies on I-25
FOR ALBUQUERQUE WEEKEND ANOTHER BIG TRAFFIC BACK UP FOR ALBUQUERQUE DRIVERS BUT THIS ONE DIDN T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH CONSTRUCTION A MAN ON A MOTORCYCLE DIED WHEN HE CRASHED IN BACKED-UP TRAFFIC AFTER A HIGH SPEED CHASE ON I-25 CRIS ORNELAS IS LIVE AT THE SCENE HE SORTS IT ALL OUT FOR US POLICE HAD TO SHUT DOWN THE SOUTHBOUND LANES OF THE INTERSTATE FOR ABOUT AN HOUR AND A HALF TODAY AS THEY INVESTIGATED THEY SAY THE MAN WHO DIED HIT HIS BRAKES TOO HARD AND WENT OVER THE HANDLE BARS THIS IS THE AFTERMATH OF A HIGH SPEED CHASE THAT STARTED IN CUBA AND ENDED AT SOUTHBOUND I-25 AND SAN MATEO WHEN COPS SPIKED THE TIRES OF THE SUSPECT S CAR YOU CAN SEE THE BOOZE POLICE FOUND INSIDE SITTING ON THE ROOF BUT IN THE RESULTING BACK-UP A MAN CRASHED HIS MOTORCYCLE 48- 54 he apparently braked very hard and high centered this is going over the top of the motorcycle and struck the pavement EMERGENCY CREWS HAD TO GO THE WRONG WAY UP THE RAMP THEN DRIVE AGAINST TRAFFIC TO GET TO THE MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT AMBULANCE CREWS WORKED QUICKLY TO SCOOP UP THE MAN AND RUSH HIM TO THE HOSPITAL 55-1 02 he was not wearing a helmet he suffered massive head injury was transported to the university hospital where he passed away POLICE SAY THE VICTIM IS FROM VALENCIA COUNTY HIS NAME HAS NOT BEEN RELEASED 1 03-1 10 the individual is described as a hispanic male 6-3 about 330 pounds and he was 43 years of age POLICE SAY ALCOHOL AND SPEED DO NOT APPEAR TO FACTORS IN THE MOTORCYCLE CRASH THAT MOTORCYCLE CRASH
