Cyclist killed in hit-and-run accident
RUN CRASH TAKES AN UNEXPECTED TWIST TONIGHT WHILE POLICE SEARCH FOR THE DRIVER WHO HAD MOWED DOWN A BICYCLIST THE SUSPECT DRIVES RIGHT BACK TO THE SCENE SHELTON DODSON IS LIVE AT COMANCHE AND VASSAR WITH THE LATEST IN TONIGHT S TOP STORY SHELTON THIS IS WHERE THE BIKE PATH THAT RUNS ALONG THE MAIN CONCRETE DIVERSION CHANNEL CROSSES UNDER COMANCHE THE IMPACT WAS SO VIOLENT THE VICTIM S BIKE WAS CATAPULTED FROM UP HERE ON THE STREET ALL THE WAY DOWN INTO THE ARROYO IT HAPPENED AROUND 6 30 TONIGHT THE VICTIM IS A WHITE MAN BETWEEN 40-AND-50 YEARS OLD HE WAS CROSSING COMANCHE WHEN A CAR SLAMMED INTO AND KILLED HIM THE DRIVER TOOK OFF SETTING OFF A SEARCH FOR HIS CAR BASED ON WITNESS DESCRIPTIONS BUT WHILE POLICE WERE LOOKING FOR THE SUSPECT HE DROVE BACK TO THE SCENE It is not only unlawful to leave the scene of the accident it is immoral not to render aid when someone is injured This will be taken into consideration as part of the accident investigation But we will be listening to the individual as to his reasons why he left the scene SINCE THE 25 YEAR OLD DRIVER RETURNED TO THE SCENE POLICE ARE STILL NOT SURE IF THEY WILL CHARGE HIM IT S VERY LIKELY INVESTIGATORS WILL TURN THE EVIDENCE OVER TO THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY S OFFICE AND LET THEM MAKE THAT DECISION COMANCHE REMAINS CLOSED IN BOTH DIRECTIONS IN THIS AREA AND IS EXPECTED TO STAY THAT WAY AT LEAST UNTIL 11 O CLOCK LIVE AT COMANCHE AND VASSAR SHELTON DODSON EYEWITNESS NEWS FOUR
